Summary

Edit

The majority voted in favour of keeping schedule 1 unchanged. In parliamentary jargon, they voted that the schedule "stand as printed." This vote was moved after Victorian Senator Sarah Henderson (Liberal) proposed that it should be removed from the bill.

What is schedule 1?

The bills digest explains that Schedule 1 creates a new loan, SY-HELP, "which is designed to support students participating in accelerator program courses, as part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP)". It also "amends social security legislation to include participation in accelerator courses for eligibility for student payments."
