Summary

Edit

The majority voted to pass the bill. In parliamentary jargon, they voted to read it for a third time. The bill will now go back to the House of Representatives, where our Members of Parliament (MPs) will decide whether or not they agree with the amendments that the Senate made. If they do agree, the bill will become law.

What does the bill do?

The main purpose of the bill it to "repeal the requirement for the Fair Work Commission (FWC) to conduct four-yearly reviews of modern awards from the beginning of 1 January 2018", though it makes other changes as well. Read more about the bill and the reasons it was introduced in the bills digest.
