- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2023-11-17.88.3) introduced by South Australian Senator [Penny Wong](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/sa/penny_wong) (Labor), which means it passed.
- ### Motion text
- > *That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent me moving a motion to provide for the consideration of a matter, namely a motion to allow a motion relating to the consideration of legislation be moved and determined immediately.*
- Standing orders are the usual procedural rules of parliament.
- #### No rebellion
- Note, this division record is currently showing Victorian Senator [David Van](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/victoria/david_van) (Independent) as a rebel voter against the rest of the Liberal Party, which is an error. Senator Van left the Liberal Party in June 2023.
