  • <p>The question is that the opposition amendment on sheet 2206 be agreed to.</p>
  • The majority voted against an [Opposition amendment](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2023-11-17.179.1) to the usual second reading motion, which is "*that the bill be read a second time*" (parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill). This means the original motion will remain unchanged.
