Summary

Edit

The majority voted in favour a motion to suspend the usual procedural rules - known as standing orders - in order to allow another motion to be introduced, moved by South Australian Senator Sarah Hanson-Young (Greens). This means that Senator Hanson-Young was subsequently able to move the other motion.

Motion text

That so much of standing orders be suspended as would prevent me from moving a motion relating to conduct of business—namely, a motion to provide for the consideration of the Housing Australia Future Fund Bill 2023 and related bills.
