Summary

Edit

The majority voted against a Greens amendment to a Government motion to establish several joint committees (committees consisting of members from both the House and the Senate). Greens Senate leader Larissa Waters proposed to change the chair of the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme to be a member of a minor party or an independent, instead of a Government senator. The intent of the proposal is to allow for the election of Western Australia Greens senator Jordon Steele-John, who is a member of the disability community, to chair that committee.
