- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2021-12-01.45.1) to pass the bill. In parliamentary jargon, they voted to read the bill a [third time](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/). This means the bill will now return to the House of Representatives, where our MPs will consider whether they agree with the Senate's amendments. If the agree, then the bill will become law.
- ### What does this bill do?
- According to the [bills digest](https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Bills_Legislation/bd/bd1920a/20bd063), the bill was introduced to:
- * *to amend various statutes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the national system for regulating agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemical products and*
- * *to establish a governance Board for the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority Board (APVMA) and formally cease the existing APVMA Advisory Board.*
