Description
- The majority voted in favour of an [amended motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2021-08-12.5.2), originally introduced by SA Senator [Penny Wong](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/sa/penny_wong) (Labor) and then subsequently amended by SA Senator [Simon Birmingham](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/sa/simon_birmingham) (Liberal), which means it succeeded. Motions like these don't make any legal changes on their own, but are politically influential because they represent the will of the Senate.
