Title

 • Business Consideration of Legislation
 • Business - Consideration of Legislation - Speed things along

Description

 •
Anne Ruston

 •
I move:

 •
That the provisions of paragraphs (5) to (8) of standing order 111 not apply to the following bills, allowing them to be considered during this period of sittings:

 • The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2019-12-05.79.5) to speed up consideration of two bills:
 • * [Australian Crime Commission Amendment (Special Operations and Special Investigations) Bill 2019](https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Bills_Legislation/Bills_Search_Results/Result?bId=r6457); and
 • * [Special Recreational Vessels Bill 2019](https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Bills_Legislation/Bills_Search_Results/Result?bId=r6459).
 • In parliamentary jargon, they voted to suspend the usual [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - that is, the usual procedural rules - that would have delayed the bills passage through parliament.

 •
(5) Special Recreational Vessels Bill 2019.

 •
Rachel Siewert

 •
Mr President, can I ask that a number of the bills be put separately? We have a different opinion on them.

 •
Scott Ryan

 •
Yes. Which bills would you like considered separately?

 •
Rachel Siewert

 •
We are supportive of the Farm Household Support Amendment (Relief Measures) Bill (No. 2) 2019, the Interactive Gambling Amendment (National Self-exclusion Register) Bill 2019 and the National Self-exclusion Register (Cost Recovery Levy) Bill 2019 being done together. We'd like to vote differently on the Australian Crime Commission Amendment (Special Operations and Special Investigations) Bill 2019 and the Special Recreational Vessels Bill 2019.

 •
Scott Ryan

 •
I will separate those two. I will put the motion with respect to the Farm Household Support Amendment (Relief Measures) Bill (No. 2) 2019, the Interactive Gambling Amendment (National Self-exclusion Register) Bill 2019 and the National Self-exclusion Register (Cost Recovery Levy) Bill 2019. So, the question is that the motion with respect to those three bills be agreed to.

 •
Question agreed to.

 •
I will now put the motion on the remaining two bills: the Australian Crime Commission Amendment (Special Operations and Special Investigations) Bill 2019 and the Special Recreational Vessels Bill 2019. The question is that the motion with respect to those two bills be agreed to.
