  • <p>I move the second reading amendment on sheet 8715 standing in my name:</p>
  • <p class="italic">At the end of the motion, add:</p>
  • The majority voted against a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2019-07-24.12.1) introduced by Queensland Senator [Larissa Waters](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/queensland/larissa_waters) (Greens), which means it failed. The motion would have amended the usual second reading motion, which is that "*the bills be read [for a second time](https://www.peo.gov.au/learning/fact-sheets/making-a-law.html)*". This is parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill.

  • <p>The amendment indicates it will be incredibly useless to have a drought fund if you continue to let big mining companies have free water.</p>
