- The majority voted against a [suspension motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?gid=2018-06-20.129.1) introduced by South Australian Senator [Penny Wong](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/senate/sa/penny_wong) (Labor), which means it failed. The motion would have amended the usual procedural rules - known as [standing orders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliamentary_procedure) - in order to let Senator Wong make a statement.
