The government does not support this inquiry, as the information being sought is largely available on the department's website. The government is now assessing three possible sites in two communities for their social and technical suitability to host a national radioactive waste management facility. This has been done following a voluntary and fully transparent, community-driven process, consistent with the National Radioactive Waste Management Act 2012. The government's focus is on local communities and the traditional owners, but it also includes the broader community. The Minister for Resources and Northern Australia has advised that he would be happy to provide a briefing on this project to any senator or member.

The question is that business of the Senate notice of motion No. 2, standing in the name of Senator Patrick, be agreed to.
