- Customs Amendment (China-Australia Free Trade Agreement Implementation) Bill 2015 and related bill - Third Reading - Pass the bills
Description

Anne Ruston

I move:

That the se bills be now read a third time.

- The majority [voted to pass](http://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2015-11-09.189.1) the bills in the Senate. In parliamentary jargon, they voted to read the bills [for a third time](http://www.peo.gov.au/learning/fact-sheets/making-a-law.html).
- Because the bills have already passed in the House of representatives, they will now become law.
- ### What do the bills do?
- Together, these bills implement the [China-Australia Free Trade Agreement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93Australia_Free_Trade_Agreement) into Australian law. This Agreement does not remove all tariffs, subsidies, quotas etc between Australia and China (so it's not really *free* trade), but it does create more favourable trading conditions between the two countries.
- Read more about the Agreement and the bills in the [bills digest](http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Bills_Legislation/bd/bd1516a/16bd029).

The question is that the bills be read a third time.
