<p class="speaker">Bob Brown</p><p>I move:</p><dl><dt></dt><dd>That the Senate—<dl><dt>(a)</dt><dd>notes the call by the Treasurer (Mr Costello) for people applying for Australian citizenship who do not ‘share certain beliefs’ to be refused citizenship, and those Australians holding dual citizenship who do not ‘share certain beliefs’ to be stripped of their Australian citizenship; and</dd><dt>(b)</dt><dd>calls on the Treasurer to outline how that non-sharing is defined and how this could be framed in law.</dd></dl></dd></dl><p>Question put.</p>- The majority voted against a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/senate/?id=2006-02-28.42.2) introduced by Australian Greens Senator for Tasmania Bob Brown, which means it failed.
