  • <p>The question before the House is that the amendment moved by the honourable member for Griffith be agreed to.</p>
  • The majority voted against an [amendment](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debate/?id=2023-10-18.190.1) to the usual second reading motion, which is "*that the bill be read a second time*", which is parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill. This amendment was introduced by Griffith MP [Max Chandler-Mather](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/griffith/max_chandler-mather) (Greens).
