Description

Ross Vasta

In accordance with standing order 133, I shall now proceed to put the question on the motion moved earlier today by the honourable member for Paterson on which a division was called for and deferred in accordance with the standing order. No further debate is allowed.

Tony Smith

- The majority voted in favour of *disagreeing* with a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debate/?id=2021-08-10.6.2) introduced by Paterson MP [Meryl Swanson](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/paterson/meryl_swanson) (Labor), which means the motion failed.
- ### Motion text
- > *That all words after "That" be omitted with a view to substituting the following words:*
- >
- > *"whilst not declining to give the bill a [second reading](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/bills-and-laws/making-a-law-in-the-australian-parliament/), the House notes that:*
- >
- > *(1) international trade will be crucial to Australia's post COVID-19 economic recovery; and*
- >
- > *(2) the Government's inability to secure a variety of vaccines has left Australians dangerously vulnerable—particularly those in trade exposed industries".*

The matter before the House is the motion moved by the honourable member for Paterson on a deferred division from earlier in the day. The question is that the motion be disagreed to.
