Title
Motions — Morrison Government
- Motions - Morrison Government - Don't let a vote happen
Description

Tony Smith

The question now is that motion moved by the honourable Leader of the Opposition be disagreed to.

-
- The majority voted in favour of *disagreeing* with a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2021-06-17.83.2), which means it failed. The motion was to suspend the usual procedural rules - known as [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - in order to let another vote happen.
- ### Motion text
- > *That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the Leader of the Opposition from moving the following motion immediately—*
- >
- > *That the House notes:*
- >
- > *(1) despite announcing Australia would be at the front of the queue on COVID vaccines, the Morrison Government has taken too long to secure the vaccines Australians always needed;*
- >
- > *(2) despite announcing Australia was not putting all its eggs in one basket on COVID vaccines, the Morrison Government failed to secure early access to five or six vaccines;*
- >
- > *(3) fewer than three per cent of Australians have been fully vaccinated;*
- >
- > *(4) despite announcing last August it was looking to establish mRNA manufacturing in Australia, the Morrison Government has failed to establish mRNA vaccine manufacturing in Australia; and*
- >
- > *(5) the Morrison Government has failed to run an effective public information campaign on vaccines in the face of constantly changing health advice and increased vaccine hesitancy.*
