In other words, they voted to stop discussion on the issue and vote immediately on the question.- The majority voted in favour of the following [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debate/?id=2019-12-04.162.1) introduced by Wright MP [Scott Buchholz](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/wright/scott_buchholz) (Liberal):
- > *That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the motion for the third reading being moved without delay.*
- Standing orders are the procedural rules of Parliament. And reading a bill for a third time is the same as passing the bill.
