<p class="speaker">Tony Smith</p><p>The question is that the motion moved by the member for Hunter be agreed to.</p>-
- The majority voted against a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debate/?id=2018-09-10.125.1) by Hunter MP [Joel Fitzgibbon](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/hunter/joel_fitzgibbon) (Labor), which means it failed. The motion was to suspend the usual procedural rules - known as [standing orders](https://peo.gov.au/understand-our-parliament/how-parliament-works/parliament-at-work/standing-orders/) - in order to let another vote happen.
