- The majority voted in favour of a [motion](https://www.openaustralia.org.au/debates/?id=2017-06-22.125.1):
- > *That so much of standing orders be suspended as would prevent the motion for the third reading being moved without delay.*
- Standing orders are the procedural rules of parliament and, because this vote passed, House can now vote on whether they want to pass the bill (known as giving the bill at third reading).
